Remedial Action Notices (RANs) and Detention Notices as issued under relevant Food Safety and Hygiene Regulations. Remedial action notices (RANs) only apply to a small percentage of establishments in England, i.e. those approved under EC Regulation 853/2004, whereas amendments to the domestic hygiene legislation in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland extended the scope of RANs into premises that are registered under Regulation 852/2004.
