- In the case of this novel food, its designation on the labelling of foodstuffs containing it shall be “Partially hydrolysed protein from spent barley and rice”.The novel food is an allergen and will therefore be labelled in accordance with the UK labelling requirements for allergens and there is therefore no need for any additional labelling requirement to protect those with Coeliac disease or allergy to barley.
